Introduction
Soil is one of the most critical life-supporting resources, providing the foundation for food and fibre production, ecosystem services, biodiversity, water, nutrients, energy, among others. Nevertheless, soil resources are pressured by increasing food demand and climate change, which call for sustainable management practices and innovative research. Soil are essential resources to be protected and managed to meet UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The 4th ISMC Conference is a science symposium that aims to integrate and advance soil system modeling, Earth system science, and beyond, through:
• 1. bringing together leading experts in modelling soil processes within all major soil disciplines;
• 2. addressing major scientific gaps in describing key processes and their long term impacts with respect to the different functions and ecosystem services provided by soil;
• 3. promoting integration of soil modelling expertise in neighboring disciplines (climate, land surface, eco, hydro, and other models);
• 4. performing soil model intercomparison studies at local to global scales;
• 5. consolidating soil and other data platforms for modeling purposes;
• 6. integrating societal and environmental considerations into soil and ecosystem functioning.
The theme of the 4th ISMC Conference is "Advances in Modelling Soil System Science, Earth System Science, and Beyond." We cordially invite you to register and participate in this grand event.
第四届土壤模拟国际会议将于2024年5月7日-10日在天津召开,会议地点为天津市泛太平洋大酒店(地址:中国天津市红桥区张自忠路1号)。
土壤不仅为植物提供必需的营养和水分,而且也是土壤动物赖以生存的栖息场所,是地球系统中维持生命最关键的要素之一。土壤为生态系统提供着众多的功能,对于构建可持续发展的生态环境至关重要。
第四届土壤模拟国际会议旨在推动基础土壤科学及其模拟研究的发展,进而为保护全球生态系统服务,以应对全球土壤退化、气候变化以及可持续发展等重大挑战。主要内容包括:
• 1. 汇集国内外土壤学科相关学者开展交流讨论;
• 2. 解决土壤关键过程和生态服务等方面存在的重大科学问题;
• 3. 促进土壤模拟与其他学科(如气候、陆面过程、生态、水文等)的耦合;
• 4. 开展土壤模型在不同尺度(如区域到全球尺度)的对比研究;
• 5. 整合用于构建土壤模型的多源数据平台;
• 6. 探讨社会经济等要素与土壤生态系统功能的关联。
